When did you first realize that you were an artist?
Visually speaking? According to my mother, at 6 months of age, I picked up a pencil and started scribbling while holding the pencil the "correct" way.
Are there any nationally or internationally known artists that have influenced your work?
My earlier influences that I recall mainly revolved around Boris Vallejo, Frank Frazetta, Alberto Vargas, and a few others I can't remember. As time went on, I looked into other genres and artists to expand my interests. Salvador Dali, Olivia DeBerardinis, Sorayama, Alex Grey, H. R. Giger. My tastes are extremely varied, as each artist speaks to me in different ways. I enjoy the artists on deviantART a lot, since there are so many from amateurs to working professionals. Even pictures or sculptures made by younger kids influence and inspire me.
Do you have a preferred medium?
I am working on getting better with tattooing. It's very challenging, but hard work pays off in the end, and I hope to be able to create amazing works on skin like some of the old school guys and bigger names that are currently in the industry. I do enjoy working in pencil, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, and acrylics for the most part.
How do you pick your subject matter for a piece?
I suppose it depends on my emotional state at the time when it's something just for myself. Otherwise I go with whatever other people ask me for.
What other interests do you have besides art?
Too many to really name, but to narrow it down I do enjoy studying different cultures because they do influence my work as well. Traveling a big thing at this point in my life, as well as meeting new people, and having the chance to do things I haven't done before. All in all, I suppose my other interests compose of enjoying life and what it has to offer to me. *SMIILE*
How has the Internet changed things for you as an artist?
It has been wonderful in that I have had the chance to view the work of people I never heard about. I have also had the chance to have e-mail conversations with people who have helped me grow as a visual artist, but also as a person.
Where do you see yourself as an artist 10 years from now?
I asked myself that question 10 years ago, and I am in a place that I never thought I would be, so I suppose that I feel that question is a bit silly. I can't say where I actually see myself 10 years from now, but what I can tell you is that I look forward to see what surprises life has in store for me.
